MY FIRST

Way back in Bukidnon, I will always remember Auntie Annie. I ran to her whenever I need to have my hair cut. In their sala, with that red cloth she’ll cover my neck, wet my hair with water and after few minutes of the clashing of the scissors, I already have my hair trimmed at a lower cost.

Then December 24, 2008 came at around 4 in the afternoon, something realized. This might be ordinary for others especially for girls and women at my age. Maybe some of you won’t even believe me that it’s my first but this is true. I just want to share to all of you my experience.

As the glass door was opened by the security guard, set before my very eyes were dazzling mirrors, hi tech chairs and other paraphernalia that I’ve seen in the movies & in the television. We were greeted by the receptionist who asked what kind of service I wished to avail. So I answered, then simultaneous asked for the price that sends my eyes twinkling with dollar signs :) . So I turned to my companion who assured me that the price is alright with him. I got myself a chair till somebody attended to me. He(third sex) instructed a woman to have my hair shampooed. She had me reclined with my head on the lavatory. I was a bit startled with the water coming from the telephone shower. And the waters send me giggling so I covered my mouth with my hanky to avoid embarrassment. The shampoo smelled so good. With towel wrapped around my head, I was led to the cutting area where I silently said goodbye to my hair, my long hair. Of course to finish the service, my hair was blow dried and again I chuckled as the hot air reaches my scalp and my neck. Then after some time, the reflection in the mirror reveals a new me with a totally new hairstyle that will surely surprise everybody who are used to seeing me with long hair.

My experience is typical but what makes it special is that it uncovered the childish trait in me and that it felt good also to pamper one’s self. It also makes sense trying something new. So far I’ve been receiving positive feedbacks. Maybe there are few hidden not so good comments but it doesn’t matter to me. What’s important is that I’m comfortable and happy with my new hairdo with the hope of a more positive outlook this year.

Well a big thanks to my hairstylist and of course to my Lavs who patiently accompanied me to the salon and who also sponsored it by d way.
